When Camelot Fabrics invited me to try out their new fusible from the Behind the Seams product line, I couldn’t resist! As many of you know, I’m always on the lookout for a great fusible to use with wool.
In a previous post, I reviewed three different fusibles to replace my longtime favorites, Soft Fuse and FlexiFuse, with FlexiFuse emerging as the winner. So, I was eager to see how Camelot’s new fusible would measure up.
I tested this product on my upcoming pattern, Dutch Porcelain, which combines wool fused to a cotton background and areas where wool is fused to wool—a real test for any fusible!
First, I loved the paper backing on this product. It has the perfect consistency and even allowed me to easily trace shapes with a pencil.
The fusible bonded beautifully to the cotton background. While the instructions recommend steam, I found it wasn’t necessary. Even better, it adhered well when fusing wool to wool, including small, intricate overlaps like the shoe details.
But here’s the most important question: How does it feel to stitch through?
The answer is—amazing! I could hardly tell it was there, and it held up perfectly. None of the small pieces loosened during stitching.
Overall, the Camelot Fabrics FuseWeb Paper Release is a true winner in my book. I’ll be recommending it to my students and using it in future projects!
