I am thrilled to be a part of the #SewPink initiative with ByAnnie again this year. ByAnnie hosts this blog hop every year to bring awareness to Breast Cancer and this year they hoping to bring awareness to all types of cancer (You can see the awareness ribbon colors below). I know so many amazing people who have struggled with this devastating disease and I hope that this blog hop helps to bring awareness and early detection.
I don't make many bags, so it is always good to challenge myself to make a new one every year for this event. This year I decided to make the Switchbag bag for Quilt Market. I chose this bag because it can be worn as a crossbody or a backpack and I have often wished to switch between the two while at large conference events. The crossbody is easier when stuffing pamplets and information into my bag, but the backpack feels better on my neck and shoulders.

I was a little intimidated when I started. This bag has a LOT of pieces.
But the main thing that I love about the ByAnnie patterns is that they are so easy to follow AND if you get stuck, there are often videos to help. I also love that you quilt the pieces before assembling them. The texture of the quilting makes the bag even better in my opinion.
It took me a few days to complete the bag, but I was so pleased with how it turned out. It has two pockets on the front, one that is open and one that has a zipper. These pockets were useful for things that I needed to access quickly such as my chapstick and business cards.
On the inside, there are two open pockets and another zipper pocket. The bag is bigger than I thought it would be and it held eveything I needed during Quilt Market. It also had plenty of room for all the extra handouts and pamplets that you inevitably pick up during a show. The tabs on the side can be used to close the bag in addition to the zipper, or you can attach keys or other small items to them.
I am so proud of this bag and so thankful for the ByAnnie patterns that make it possible for me to indulge my bag making wishes every year.
Also, in honor of this event, I am offering my
Kidney Awareness Ribbon Pattern for free when you sign up for my newsletter. You can make the color ribbon to honor anyone who is dear to you that has fought a cancer battle. The chart below shows you the months and colors for the different types of cancer.
