The Inspiration Behind the Bertie Bison Collage
The Bertie Bison collage was inspired by the bison that we saw while touring Yellowstone National Park. There were many herds of bison in the fields of Yellowstone, like these. (they are pixelated because we were so far away.)

However, I really loved the majesty of the bulls that were hanging out solo throughout the park.

We even played a game of chicken with a bull on one of the roads. (The bison won of course!) Because we respected the space of the bison in Yellowstone, I didn’t really get any great pictures. I took a photo of my husband tryong to get a photo of the bison because it was funny to see how he was trying to be so professional with just a phone and zooming in.

Because I couldn't get a perfect shot for my collage with the Yellowstone bison, I made a point of taking photos of the bison at the North Carolina Zoo. I was lucky that the herd was close to the viewing area and the bison was posed perfectly for a photo.

I'm not even 100 percent sure this bison is a boy or if it is even the same type as the bison in Yellowstone, but once I had this photo, I knew it would be the perfect collage. And so Bertie Bison was created!

I had a blast creating him and he was the perfect use for my yellow and orange flowers like the ones in this panel:

I also used the green scallops to soften the edges in the grass areas of the collage.
