Two Ways to Cut Strip Pieces
In this blog post I'm going to show you two ways to cut your strip pieces.
Regular Ruler
Trim just a tiny bit off the edge.

Set your ruler to where you need to cut. You always want the piece you are cutting to be under the ruler. This gives you more control over where the fabric is being cut. The example I am cutting needs to be 1 1/2" wide. I line up the middle piece, which should be one inch to make sure my piece is going to be straight.

Cut your pieces by moving and lining up the ruler for each piece.

Stripology Ruler
I love this ruler for cutting strip sets or for cutting lots and lots of small pieces of fabric. One cool thing about this ruler is that the little star marks the 1 1/2" cuts. So if I cut at all these stars, then I will get my one and a half inch cuts and I don't have to worry about miscutting my project.

Also, it holds all of your fabric in place. However, be careful about where you position your top hand. You don't wanna have it in a spot where you're gonna run your rotary cutter across.
Line up your ruler so that the bottom edge aligns with a horizontal line. Then trim the edge by cutting on the zero.

Cut along each 1 1/2" mark

Then, lift the ruler off and all four pieces have been cut. It is so fast and easy with this ruler.
