Bayberry Candle - #QuiltBlockMania
It's time for another #QuiltBlockMania post!
This month the theme is New Year and I designed a bayberry candle in honor of the season. My mom always lit a bayberry candle on New Year's Eve because my great-grandmother said it was good luck. It is one of my favorite New Year traditions and is way more enjoyable than eating black-eyed peas! I light it again on New Year's Day because I couldn't remember which day I was supposed to light it and I could always use a little extra luck!
Apparently the tradition began in Colonial times because bayberries were expensive and burning the candle meant you were a person of wealth and prosperity. You can learn more about this tradition and the bayberry from Colonial Candle.

The Bayberry Candle pattern is only free through the month of December when you sign up for my newsletter.

This is the final Texas themed #QuiltBlockMania pattern for 2025. I had so much fun creating blocks based on my home state. Are you sad that you missed one of the blocks? Then I have good news for you! I've created a pattern bundle with all 12 blocks and you can get them from my shop now!

I hope you have as much fun making your block as I did designing it!
