Texas Football-#QuiltBlockMania

I’m so excited about the blocks I’ve planned for #QuiltBlockMania this year! I’m heading back to my roots in Texas for inspiration, with each design paying homage to my home state.

January’s theme is sports, and naturally, I had to create a block featuring the greatest sport in Texas—football!

In Texas, football reigns supreme. As a proud member of my high school and college dance teams—and later as a director—I spent countless Friday and Saturday nights in the stands, cheering on my teams. In fact, I was on the sidelines for 15 consecutive football seasons!

The block’s jersey is red and white, a nod to my alma mater, the University of Houston (Go Coogs!). But you can easily customize it with the colors of your favorite team. The pattern even includes numbers 0–9, so you can feature your favorite player’s number. I chose 25 for my jersey as a special nod to 2025!
