Texas Rocket - #QuiltBlockMania
I’m so excited to share my May #QuiltBlockMania block with you!
This month’s theme is Up in the Air and my block pays tribute to the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston in Houston, Texas.
The Johnson Space Center was originally named the Manned Spacecraft Center and opened in 1963. It is the site of the Mission Control for NASA and is why many of the communications from astronauts started with "Houston," such as "Houston, the Eagle has landed." (said by Neil Armstrong when the first rocket landed on the moon in 1969)
The Johnson Space Center partners with Space Center Houston to create a space exploration center and museum. We took the kids to visit when they were younger and they enjoyed seeing the rockets and playing in the simulators. Space Center Houston is a fantastic place to visit if you are ever in Houston.
My little rocket includes a star as an homage to the Lone Star State. I can’t wait to see how you bring this block to life.
The Texas Rocket pattern is free through the month of May when you sign up for my newsletter.
